TRIBUTE TO MIGUEL LOPEZ DE LEGAZPI.
Zumarraga, Spain Mayor Anton Arbulu (left), Spanish Secretary of State
of Foreign Affairs Ramon Gil-Cesares (2nd from right), and Spanish
Ambassador to the Philippines, Ignacio Sagaz (right) are joined by
Manila Mayor Jose L. Atienza Jr. in a wreathlaying ceremony at the
Legazpi Monument on P. Burgos and A. Bonifacio drive in Manila, on the
occasion of the 500th birth anniversary of Miguel Lopez de Lagazpi, who
founded the city for Spain in the 16th century. |

LEGAZPI BUST TURNOVER.
Manila Mayor Lito Atienza (left) receives from Zumarraga, Spain, Mayor
Arbulu the bust of Spanish "conquistador" Miguel Lopez de Legazpi,
founder of Manila, at a turnover ceremony at Bulwagang Antonio Villegas
of the Manila City Hall. The rites honored Legazpi's contribution to
Philippine history when he proclaimed Manila as the country's capital. |

MARCH 2006 -ZUMARRAGA,
SAMAR. In pursuit of its commitment to sustain the ZUFI
scholarship program, Chairman Eriberto C. Varona presented the
Certificates of ZUFI Scholarship to the top ranking students of ZES,
ZIS, SAI, Mual-bual High School, and Macalunod Elementary School on
March 29-31, 2006 during his visit to Zumarraga, Samar. Receiving
the certificate on the photo is Ma. Karen V. Paturbos (left), ZES
valedictorian batch 2006. |

JUNE 2006 - QUEZON CITY. ZUFI Board
of Trustees' Chair, RAdm Eriberto C. Varona (left) awarded Msgr. Anton
Z. Verzosa (center - second photo) the Plaque of Distinction in
recognition of his exemplary commitment and invaluable services in the
furtherance of the objectives of the Foundation. He was assisted by the
ZUFI President, Dr. Teresa D. Solero (leftmost - first photo) and
retired Judge Leocadio Ramos as witness to the presentation. The
awarding was held during the 62nd anniversary of the fiesta celebration
of Zumarraganhon-Metro-Manila residents on June 25, 2006 in Quezon City
Sports Complex, sponsored by retired Judge Ramos as the Hermano Mayor. |
